The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria has taken a proactive stance against immigration fraud by setting up an Immigration Fraud Section in various commands across the country. This move comes in response to the increasing cases of fraud related to immigration matters and aims to protect Nigerians from falling victim to these scams.
The Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, made this announcement during a meeting with a delegation from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) led by Superintendent Rabhi Abdallah. The RCMP delegation expressed interest in collaborating with the EFCC on joint operations and investigations to tackle global security challenges.
Robert Aboumitri, a Senior Intelligence Analyst with RCMP, praised the EFCC for its efficiency and professionalism, citing past successful collaborations between the two agencies. In response, Olukoyede expressed gratitude and willingness to formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding.
Highlighting the EFCC’s track record as the leading anti-corruption agency in Africa, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of collaboration with both local and foreign law enforcement agencies. The partnership between EFCC and RCMP holds promise for enhancing security and combating fraud in Nigeria and the West African region.
