Concerned about the issues plaguing the oil sector, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has called on the Federal Government to launch an immediate investigation into the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
The group highlighted various concerns, including subsidy scams, importation of substandard petroleum products, and mismanagement of the Port Harcourt Refinery, leading to fuel shortages and hardships for Nigerians. In a statement, the CNPP urged President Bola Tinubu to suspend Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, and conduct a thorough public probe into the allegations against the company’s management.
Accusations of incompetence, subsidy scams, and importation of substandard fuel raise serious questions about the leadership of NNPC Limited. The group also demanded the arrest and prosecution of those involved in oil theft, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability within the sector to restore public trust and confidence.
