The Transitional Legislative Assembly members have expressed concerns about the incorrect circulation of South Sudan symbols, such as the flag and map. They urge the National Government to address this issue promptly.
One member, Tut Jok, noted the use of both the correct and incorrect versions of the flag at public events, causing confusion among citizens. The Media Authority issued a warning to prevent the printing of the wrong flag by advertising and printing companies.
Jok highlighted that the incorrect flag was also being displayed in government offices and by law enforcement agencies. He called for the Ministry of Information to ensure the correct flag is displayed on national broadcaster SSBC.
Another MP highlighted the issue with the country’s geographical map, noting that some versions excluded parts of South Sudan. He emphasized the importance of using officially recognized maps.
Speaker Jemma Nunu Kumba mentioned that the Ministry of Information had already taken steps to address the flag issue through public education campaigns. It is crucial for the government to distribute and use the correct symbols of South Sudan’s sovereignty.
