A series of Ukrainian drone strikes targeted various towns in Russia’s Belgorod region, causing significant damage to a church and several public and commercial buildings. According to local authorities, the attacks took place early Tuesday.
Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that St. Nicholas Church in the village of Gruzskoye was hit by an FPV drone, resulting in the dome collapsing and extensive interior damage. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the resulting blaze.
In addition to the church, another public building in Gruzskoye and several commercial enterprises in the towns of Shebekino and Rzhevka were also targeted. These towns are in close proximity to the border with Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.
While Russia’s Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the attacks, they previously claimed to have downed Ukrainian drones in other regions. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the latest attack in the border region.
Conversely, Ukrainian officials stated that Russian attacks resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including an eight-year-old boy, in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions of Ukraine.
