The Yobe State Government donated N30m to families of the victims of a recent insurgent attack in Mafa, Tarmuwa Local Government, where 34 lives were lost to suspected Boko Haram insurgents. The state Deputy Governor, Idi Gubana, announced the donation during a visit to the area for the funeral of the slain persons. He also directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide shelter and food to the displaced persons who lost everything in the attack. The state governor, Mai Mala Buni, has been working on improving security in the region to prevent future attacks.
Prayers were offered for the deceased and their families, and it was clarified by the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brig.- Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam, that 34 people were confirmed dead in the attack with 5 others injured. The insurgents are targeting innocent civilians as soft targets, not the military.
