Political analyst Joseph Lual Dario is calling for the National Government to declare a state of emergency in border areas facing encroachment from foreign forces. Reports indicate illegal occupation by the Ugandan People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in South Sudan territories.
Ugandan forces have entered Eastern Equatoria State, while the RSF has encroached on Raja County in Western Bahr el-Ghazal State. Dario highlighted illegal entry by Ugandans, Kenyans, Ethiopians, and those from the Central African Republic.
Expressing concern over lack of government action, Dario warned of neighboring countries potentially taking over South Sudan. He emphasized the need for strong measures to protect the country’s lands, resources, and people against external aggression.
Suggesting diplomatic negotiations be avoided, Dario stressed the importance of early warning signs in political science. He urged South Sudan leadership to safeguard national interests and resist foreign incursions.
