Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in London to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. Dar highlighted the importance of a strong Pakistan-UK partnership and both officials reviewed various aspects of the bilateral agenda and regional stability.
Dar expressed interest in collaborating with the UK on issues like climate change, youth opportunities, and trade. He emphasized Pakistan’s desire to elevate its relationship with the UK to a strategic partnership. Foreign Secretary Lammy congratulated Pakistan on its election to the UN Security Council and pledged the UK’s support during its term.
Both ministers agreed to continue engagement leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October 2024. Pakistan’s election to the UN Security Council with a significant majority further solidifies its position on the global stage, with Dar and Lammy committed to enhancing cooperation between their countries.
