Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) revealed that during the pre-election period, the government distributed around 53 million BAM through one-time payments to various categories of citizens. This led to an increase in public spending, public works, and budget grants, raising concerns about the misuse of public resources.
TI BiH highlighted instances of election law violations, with 90 reports submitted so far. Despite some sanctions imposed by the Central Election Commission (CEC), no actions have been taken against the misuse of public funds for indirect vote-buying.
TI BiH also emphasized the need for proper interpretation of laws to prevent inappropriate influences on the electoral process. They pointed out numerous examples of one-time donations and pre-election works aimed at influencing voters.
Furthermore, TI BiH reported cases of politicians using public events for campaign purposes and exploiting children for political gain. The organization continues to advocate for fair election conditions and transparency in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Despite challenges, TI BiH noted a rise in citizen involvement in reporting election-related misconduct. The organization remains committed to ensuring accountability and integrity in the electoral process.
