The Ministry of Health recently launched the “Jordanian Health Forum” to foster collaboration and present the National Cancer Registry reports for 2020-2022. Minister of Health Firas Hawari highlighted the importance of partnerships and effective communication in the health sector, aiming to optimize resources and enhance efficiency.
The event, attended by key ministers, emphasized the role of training and education in managing Jordan’s health sector. The release of the National Cancer Registry reports, with comprehensive data after 25 years, showcased collaborations with international partners and revealed concerning trends in rising cancer rates.
Hawari stressed the need for comprehensive cancer control strategies, focusing on prevention and early detection. With cancer becoming the second leading cause of death in Jordan, urgent action is required to address the increasing incidence rates and aging population.
The reports detailed 10,755 cancer cases in 2022, highlighting common cancers like breast cancer and emphasizing lifestyle changes for reducing risk factors. The ministry’s data analysis will guide future recommendations for effective cancer care in Jordan.
