Over 189,000 Children Vaccinated in Gaza

Israel’s refusal to coordinate the entry of medical teams for polio vaccination in certain areas of Gaza has hindered the vaccination campaign, as highlighted by the Gaza Health Ministry. Despite this setback, the ministry is determined to reach all children in need of vaccination in the region.

The second phase of the polio vaccination campaign is underway, targeting children under the age of ten. The campaign aims to prevent the spread of polio, following a recent case of a 10-month-old child contracting the virus.

Hurdles faced by medical teams due to the ongoing conflict in the region have prompted calls for the lifting of the blockade to facilitate urgent aid delivery and ensure the timely distribution of vaccines.

Besieged Enclave Struggles with Polio Crisis

The ongoing conflict has exacerbated the polio crisis in Gaza, with high rates of vaccination dropping below 90%. International organizations stress the need for immediate action to contain the outbreak and provide essential healthcare to the population.
