Former Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji received praise from OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo for his achievements in leading the country’s petroleum industry. Barkindo highlighted Owji’s significant contributions over the past three years, which saw a notable increase in Iran’s oil exports and production despite US sanctions.
Owji’s efforts resulted in Iran’s oil production reaching 3.271 million barrels per day, with exports surpassing 1.5 million bpd in recent months. His successor, Mohsen Paknejad, aims to continue and enhance these initiatives to reach a target of 4 million bpd next year.
The Iranian government change led to Paknejad taking over as the new Oil Minister, but the foundation laid by Owji has set a strong precedent for future advancements in the country’s oil industry. Barkindo’s commendation reflects the global recognition of Iran’s progress under Owji’s leadership.
Despite the challenges posed by sanctions, Iran remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing its oil sector and achieving greater success in the international market.
