Washington has accused Moscow of trying to manipulate public opinion through the media ahead of the US presidential election. Action movie star Steven Seagal believes that the US is attempting to silence Russian media to hide the truth from the American people.
The US Treasury imposed sanctions on Russian media figures, including RT executives, for allegedly influencing American public opinion. Indictments were also unsealed against two Russian citizens for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act by producing content for American audiences on behalf of the Russian government.
Seagal criticized Washington for trying to cover up their actions before every election because they fear the truth being exposed. He noted that Americans are waking up to government and media manipulation, citing concerns about President Joe Biden’s health, which officials have dismissed.
Seagal believes that the US government relies on disinformation and propaganda to tarnish Russia’s image. Russian officials, including Moscow’s ambassador to Washington and the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, have condemned the measures as an attack on democratic values.
