In preparation for the upcoming winter, Ukraine has safeguarded 85% of its energy infrastructure to mitigate potential Russian attacks, as announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. The country has been experiencing periodic power outages since March, when Russia intensified its assaults on energy facilities.
Concerns have been raised about the availability of electricity during the winter, with some predicting as little as 6-7 hours per day. Shmyhal emphasized the uncertainty of blackout durations but reassured that significant efforts have been made to secure energy facilities. The government allocated Hr 19 billion ($461 million) for protection, supplemented by an additional Hr 13 billion ($315 million) from foreign partners.
