Members of the Labour Party in the South-South region have come to the defense of former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, dismissing defamatory reports against her. The Core Social Democrats, a group within the LP, refuted claims of financial fraud against Usman and highlighted her dedication to the party and law-abiding nature.
The group criticized a news platform’s report alleging that Usman had returned ₦140 million out of ₦2.5 billion received from the former NSA’s office. They clarified that the charges against Usman had been dismissed by the Court of Appeal in Lagos in April 2023.
Appointed to lead the LP’s Caretaker Committee, Usman aims to resolve the party’s leadership crisis and organize a convention within 90 days. The Core Social Democrats demanded a retraction and apology from the news platform for the false and malicious accusations made against Usman, emphasizing the importance of justice and fairness.
