Government is processing 7,181 vehicle licence renewals a day through the National Administration Traffic Information System (eNatis), with a surge in online service usage over the past two years. According to Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) data, monthly online renewals have skyrocketed from 44,802 in August 2022 to 222,606 last month.
To access the service, vehicle owners must register their profile on online.natis.gov.za. The RTMC aims to deliver vehicle licences via courier within three to five days, achieving this target 97% of the time. They also assist fleet owners with bulk renewals. The service is available through banks like First National Bank, Capitec, and Nedbank.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 5 million vehicle licence renewal notices have been sent out to motorists. The convenience and efficiency of the online renewal service have made it increasingly popular among South Africans.
