As Ukraine braces for a challenging winter amid continued assaults from Russian forces, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal announced measures to enhance and safeguard the country’s power system. The ongoing conflict has left Ukraine’s energy network in ruins, leading to severe power shortages and blackouts.
Shmygal emphasized the necessity of fortifying Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with 85 percent of critical facilities reinforced against attacks. Concrete structures have been installed to withstand potential drone strikes and missile impact, with a focus on ensuring hospitals and schools across the country have generators for backup power.
Despite the adversity, Shmygal remains confident in Ukraine’s ability to withstand Russian aggression, stating, “We will definitely overcome it.” The country’s energy resilience is a top priority for the government as it continues to navigate challenges posed by Russian strikes on key facilities.
