Billionaire Jared Isaacman, SpaceX employees Sarah Gillis, Anna Menon, and pilot Scott Poteet make history with Polaris Dawn spacewalk.

Billionaire Jared Isaacman, along with SpaceX employees Sarah Gillis, Anna Menon, and pilot Scott Poteet, achieved a historic milestone with the Polaris Dawn mission, becoming the first private citizens to perform a spacewalk.

Isaacman, the mission’s financial backer, and Gillis took a ten-minute spacewalk outside the capsule, while Menon and Poteet, exposed to the vacuum of space, remained inside due to the absence of an airlock.

Learn more about these four pioneering Americans who have rewritten space exploration history:

Jared Isaacman, billionaire

Isaacman, the mission commander, is a 41-year-old billionaire from Pennsylvania and the CEO of Shift4 Payments. He holds world records and is a passionate advocate for space exploration.

Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon represent SpaceX, with Gillis overseeing astronaut training and Menon serving as a lead space operations engineer.

Pilot Scott Poteet

Poteet, a US Air Force veteran and triathlon enthusiast, pilots the mission alongside his close friend Isaacman.

With this remarkable feat, the Polaris Dawn crew has made significant strides in advancing private space travel.

This extraordinary journey marks a new era in space exploration for private individuals, showcasing the potential for further groundbreaking missions in the future.
