Over 100 Republican former lawmakers and officials have endorsed Democratic presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, citing that their own party’s candidate, Donald Trump, is “unfit to serve again.” The group, which includes former Trump administration officials, as well as those who served under Reagan and the Bushes, highlighted Harris’s qualities and criticized Trump’s chaotic governance.
In a letter shared by the Harris campaign, the group of former national security and foreign policy officials expressed their concerns about Trump’s behavior, including inciting the Capitol riot and his susceptibility to flattery by foreign leaders. They emphasized that Trump is unfit for any public office, endorsing Harris as a more suitable candidate for the presidency.
This endorsement from prominent Republicans adds to the growing support for Harris among more moderate voters and conservatives disillusioned with Trump. Harris’s campaign has also garnered support from corporate leaders and ex-Trump officials, showcasing a diverse coalition backing her candidacy for the 2024 election.
The letter also includes a quote from Mike Pence, stating, “Anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.” This highlights the ongoing rift within the Republican Party regarding Trump’s leadership and the appeal of alternative candidates like Harris.
