Israel Launches Cyber Attack on Lebanon, Thousands Injured
Israeli leaders became concerned in recent days that Hezbollah might discover the pagers and therefore decided to carry out the attack now.
Israel executed a terror attack on Lebanon by exploding pager devices on Tuesday due to concerns that its secret operation could be exposed by Hezbollah members, as reported by Axios. The attack resulted in 12 deaths, including two children, and nearly 3,000 injuries, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
Israeli intelligence services strategically placed booby-trapped pagers in Hezbollah’s ranks for a surprise offensive, but fearing discovery, Israel preemptively launched the attack. The US was informed only minutes before the explosions began across Lebanon.
The New York Times revealed that Israel concealed explosives within pagers shipped to Lebanon, a joint operation between Mossad and the Israeli military. Hezbollah has vowed retaliation, continuing its support for Gaza against Israel. Hasan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s leader, will address the attack in a Thursday speech.
