Moroccan Youths Face Complaint Over Israel Visit
The Moroccan Observatory Against Normalization has filed a formal complaint against a group of young Moroccans who recently visited Israel and expressed support for its actions amid the ongoing conflict with Gaza. The complaint accuses the youths of committing “serious crimes” by traveling to Israel during what they termed a “genocidal war” against the Palestinian people.
In defense of the visit, Faisal Marjani, President of the Morocco of Coexistence Association, argued that it represented a legitimate exercise of freedom of movement in line with Morocco’s official foreign policy. Marjani criticized the Observatory’s claims, stating they reflect a misunderstanding of the law and international relations.
The visit has sparked a heated debate in Morocco, with many calling for the severing of ties with Israel. Despite the backlash, the organizers defended their actions, asserting their right to express solidarity with a “friendly state” that recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern territories. Critics, however, denounced the visit as an anomaly, accusing Israel of exploiting the youths to improve its image and obscure its actions against Palestinians.
