Morocco Approves New Solar Power Stations Near Khouribga
The Moroccan government has given the green light for the construction of two new solar power stations near Khouribga, in line with its national energy transition strategy. These stations, covering 127 and 114 hectares respectively, aim to diversify the country’s energy sources.
Managed by the Ministry of the Interior, these projects will soon open for tender by the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN). Once operational, they will significantly boost Morocco’s renewable energy production, supporting the country’s goal of reaching 52% renewable energy by 2030.
With Morocco already leading in renewable energy with the Noor solar complex in Ouarzazate, these new solar plants in Khouribga will further enhance the country’s status. The Khouribga region, historically known for phosphate resources, will now play a key role in Morocco’s energy diversification efforts, contributing to sustainable energy solutions at a national level.
