The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, recently met with Ambassador Vladimir Vučinić from the NATO Department for Political Activities and Support to discuss Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration into NATO, highlighting both achievements and obstacles.
Helez stressed the need for a faster modernization of the Armed Forces, especially in comparison to neighboring countries. He also emphasized the importance of bolstering the NATO Fund for DCB, currently totaling around 6.5 million euros.
Vučinić assured that NATO would continue to support Bosnia and Herzegovina, praising the country for successfully hosting high-level NATO meetings. He emphasized NATO’s commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, pledging to prevent any security vacuum in the country.
Both parties agreed on the importance of understanding Bosnia and Herzegovina’s current issues, highlighting the BiH Reform Program and the proposal for the first Individually adapted cooperation program with NATO (BiH-ITPP) as crucial initiatives.
