Former international relations minister Naledi Pandor is demanding an apology from EFF leader Julius Malema for falsely claiming that she was involved in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal. Malema alleged in an interview on SABC that Pandor had received a bond from VBS, which she vehemently denies.
Returning from an event in Canada where she was honored for her courage and actions in government, Pandor expressed her disappointment in Malema’s dishonesty. She emphasized that she has never spoken negatively about him and called his actions a weak attempt to tarnish her reputation.
The VBS scandal, which involved the looting of billions from the bank, exposed failures in regulatory oversight and governance. Other politicians have been implicated, including justice and constitutional development minister Thembi Simelane, who recently submitted a report regarding a loan she received from a company linked to the VBS scandal.
Pandor is challenging Malema to provide evidence to support his claims and issue a public apology. She is adamant about clearing her name and maintaining her integrity as a politician.
