In the latest wave of violence, Lebanon reported 50 people killed and over 300 wounded in Israeli strikes on the south. The attacks marked the deadliest day in nearly a year of cross-border clashes, with children, women, and emergency workers among the casualties. The strikes targeted towns and villages in southern Lebanon, including Nabatiyeh and Tyre, as well as the Bekaa Valley near the Syrian border.
Israeli military spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, advised civilians to evacuate areas used by Hezbollah for military purposes to ensure their safety. Amid escalating tensions, fears of a full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah have heightened. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence, Micheál Martin, emphasized the need to avoid further conflict in Lebanon, given the nation’s existing challenges.
In parallel, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza claimed the lives of at least ten Palestinians, including children, amidst heavy rain that flooded displaced residents’ tent encampments. The ongoing violence in both regions underscores the urgent need for peace and humanitarian assistance to mitigate the suffering of civilians caught in the crossfire.
