The aftermath of the governorship election in Edo State has sparked controversy, with the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State rejecting the results. The Independent National Electoral Commission announced the All Progressives Congress as the winner with 291,667 votes, while the PDP scored 247,274 votes and the Labour Party got 22,763 votes.
In a statement by the PDP Campaign Organisation, the outcome was denounced as a betrayal of democracy and a disregard for the people’s electoral desires. The PDP in Ondo vowed to ensure a fair election in their upcoming governorship polls on November 16, emphasizing that they will not tolerate any compromise of votes.
The statement highlighted grievances against the APC government and the promise to protect the people’s interests. It warned against any attempts to tamper with the election process, signaling a resolute stand against any form of electoral misconduct.
