Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended his congratulations to the Governor-elect of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo, vowing to strengthen the relationship with the incoming All Progressives Congress APC-led administration in the state. The statement was issued in Abuja and signed by the Special Adviser on Media to Gov. Ododo, Mr. Ismaila Isah, following the declaration of Senator Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Sunday.
Governor Ododo commended the Edo state Governor-elect and the party leadership for their resilience and determination that led to the APC’s return to power in the state. He praised the peaceful conduct of the people of Edo state during the polls and the professionalism displayed by INEC and law enforcement agencies. With Senator Okpebholo emerging victorious in the keenly contested election, the Kogi governor promised to prioritize the welfare of the people and ensure development across all segments of the state in alignment with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Senator Monday Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes to emerge as the winner of the Edo State governorship election, defeating his closest challenger from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. The commitment to deepen ties between Kogi and Edo states was emphasized as Governor Ododo wished the Edo state Governor-elect success in leading the state into a new chapter of development.
