JACOBABAD: Local Court Adjourns Hearing of Lady Polio Worker’s Rape Case
In a recent development, a local court in Jacobabad has adjourned the hearing of the lady polio worker’s rape case until September 28. The victim, a polio worker, was presented in court under tight security measures by the police.
During the proceedings, the petitioner raised concerns about possible manipulation of DNA samples, leading the court to issue notices to the SSP, DHO, and Civil Surgeon of the civil hospital. The victim expressed fear that influential individuals were attempting to tamper with the evidence.
Prior to this hearing, the polio worker had alleged that she was raped in Allah Bux Jakhrani village but was coerced by the police to change her statement. The police admitted to outside interference, resulting in the alteration of the victim’s statement from abduction and rape to robbery.
As a consequence of the negligence in handling the case, the Sindh government took action by removing the Deputy Commissioner, SSP, and DHO of Jacobabad. The accused, Ahmed Jakhrani, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
