EU, US ‘Leading Albania Astray’ With EU Accession Issue – Russian Ambassador

Brussels and Washington are manipulating the issue of EU accession for Western Balkan countries like Albania to exert control over their political and economic affairs, according to Russian Ambassador Alexey Zaytsev. He accuses these Western powers of misleading these states for their own gain.
The Russian ambassador highlighted Albania’s aspirations for EU membership, emphasizing that the negotiation process, which began in 2022, has hit a roadblock. Despite Albania’s efforts to combat corruption and implement judicial reforms, their entry into the EU by 2030 remains uncertain.
This strategic move by the EU and US has raised concerns about the true intentions behind Albania’s integration into the EU, with conflicting interests between both sides.
