Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, expressed Iraq’s commitment to establishing a comprehensive economic partnership with Italy during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in New York. The leaders discussed strategies to enhance bilateral relations in various sectors to promote cooperation and generate mutual benefits between the two countries.
Meloni emphasized Italy’s longstanding support for Iraq, especially during the fight against ISIS, and conveyed her government’s eagerness for a robust collaboration with Iraq in political, economic, financial, security, and technical areas. She extended an invitation to Al-Sudani to visit Italy, highlighting the potential for a historic transformation in the relationship between their nations.
