A Jordanian delegation, led by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, participated in the Summit of the Future at the United Nations headquarters in New York on September 22-23. The summit aimed to strengthen global cooperation, address gaps in global governance, and renew commitments to sustainable development and the UN Charter.
Minister Toukan emphasized Jordan’s commitment to multilateralism and the need for collective action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. She called for innovative financing tools and increased development aid for developing countries. Toukan also highlighted the importance of youth participation and digital technologies in global decision-making processes.
The minister addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for international efforts to build peaceful societies. She emphasized the need for UN Security Council reform to better uphold global peace and security. Jordan is ready to be an active partner in global peace and development initiatives.
