After a special court directed the Lokayukta police to investigate Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for alleged irregularities in the allotment of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) sites, no FIR has been filed yet. The court’s decision came after a complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna.
Despite demands from JD(S) and BJP leaders, including JD(S) spokespersons Pradeep Kumar and Ravichandregowda, the Lokayukta SP office in Mysuru has not taken action. Pradeep Kumar expressed frustration over the delay in filing the FIR against the CM, citing three complaints filed in July and August.
Additionally, the High Court upheld the Governor’s permission for prosecution against the CM, but the Lokayukta SP has not initiated the FIR based on this. Concerns have been raised about the impartiality of the investigation due to the Lokayukta’s dependency on the State Government.
The Special Court has instructed Karnataka Lokayukta Mysuru to conduct the investigation and submit a report by December 24, 2024. The delay in taking action against the CM has raised questions about the effectiveness of the probe.
