Tragedy Strikes in Bihar: 46 People, Including 37 Children, Drown During Festival Celebrations
In a heartbreaking turn of events, at least 46 individuals, including 37 children, lost their lives in Bihar state, India, while celebrating the Jitiya Parv Hindu festival. The drownings occurred as devotees took part in ritual bathing in rivers and ponds that had swelled due to recent flooding.
Despite warnings about dangerous water levels, people disregarded the risks in their enthusiasm for the festival. The Bihar Disaster Management Department revealed that the tragic incidents took place across 15 districts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This festival, observed by mothers praying for the well-being of their children, turned into a nightmare for many families. At present, authorities are still working to recover three additional bodies from the water.
