Climate Change Challenges and Sustainable Development Goals Discussed at International Conference in Baku
BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Mukhtar Babayev, highlighted how climate change challenges are hindering the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) at an international conference in Baku.
Babayev emphasized the importance of global coordination to support sustainable development and ensure that no one is left behind in the process. The conference, titled “Climate Change and Just Transition: The Role and Actions of Trade Unions,” brought together representatives from various countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, along with government officials, environmental activists, and experts on climate policy.
Organized by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), International Labor Organization (ILO-ACTRAV), International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and Pan-European Regional Council (PERC), the event aimed to discuss the role of trade unions in addressing climate change and fostering a just transition towards a sustainable future.
With a comprehensive agenda and diverse representation, the conference provided a platform for meaningful discussions and potential collaborations to tackle the pressing issues of climate change and sustainable development.
