The High Court in Juba Adjourns Labor Case Hearing
The High Court in Juba has adjourned the hearing of a labor case involving former national staff of the UAP Insurance Company to 9 October. The case was filed after the Ministry of Labor issued directives for UAP to rehire unlawfully dismissed staff members, including executive members, and proposed salary increments. However, the management of UAP Insurance South Sudan has not complied with these directives, leading the former employees to seek justice through legal channels.
During the recent court session, the advocate representing the firm submitted a reply to the plaintiff’s statement, setting the stage for further arguments in the next hearing. Plaintiff lawyer Malith David Abyei, from Manyang and Co-advocates, confirmed that they will address the legal objections and defense statements at the upcoming session on 9 October.
This legal battle highlights the ongoing struggle for justice in the workplace and the importance of upholding labor rights in South Sudan. Stay tuned for updates on this case as it unfolds in the coming weeks.
