The US has boosted its defense aid to Israel by an additional $5.2 billion, with a new emphasis on Israel’s laser technology development. This extra funding is in addition to the $3.3 billion annual commitment made in a 10-year deal spanning 2019-2028.
The Defense Ministry stated that this year’s contribution under the 10-year agreement would be $3.5 billion, primarily for wartime procurement. The focus of the additional $5.2 billion is on defense systems like Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and an advanced laser system.
Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, worked with US officials to finalize the aid package. The investment aims to enhance Israel’s defense capabilities, especially against threats from Iran and Iranian-backed militias.
The partnership between Israel and the US remains strong, as evidenced by this significant aid agreement. It highlights the shared commitment to Israel’s security and stability in the face of regional challenges.
