Turkish Forces Neutralize 36 PKK/YPG Terrorists in Iraq and Syria
Turkish security forces have successfully neutralized a total of 36 PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Iraq and northern Syria over the past week, near the Turkish border. This brings the total number of terrorists neutralized since the beginning of the year to 2,049, with 1,046 in Iraq and 1,003 in northern Syria. The term “neutralize” is used to imply that the terrorists either surrendered, were killed, or captured.
PKK terrorists often seek refuge in northern Iraq to plan attacks on Turkey, while YPG/PKK terrorists in northern Syria pose a threat to the Turkish border. Recent developments in Lebanon, where Israel has been carrying out attacks, are being closely monitored by Turkish authorities, with preparations being made for a possible evacuation operation. Aid to Lebanon will continue in coordination with other institutions.
The international community has expressed concern over the escalating violence in Lebanon and the Gaza conflict. Turkish forces remain vigilant and continue to take action against terrorism in the region.
