Aid to Armenia Update: Recently, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and USAID Administrator Samantha Power highlighted the democratic progress in Armenia and announced a significant $20,600,000 support from the United States to further strengthen the country. This funding will be used to bolster cyber, border, and energy security, as well as enhance resilience against complex threats and challenges. An additional $600,000 has been allocated for Promoting Information Integrity and Resilience Initiative (ProInfo) to enhance media capacities in Armenia.
The support for Armenia is part of the Democracy Delivers Initiative, launched in 2022 to assist countries undergoing democratic renewal. The event, attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, emphasized the importance of investing in democratic resilience and collaboration to advance progress.
Administrator Power expressed optimism about Armenia’s democracy, stating, “Working with Congress, USAID and the Department of State will provide $20 million for Armenia to bolster cyber, border, and energy security and to further strengthen its resilience.” The U.S. remains committed to supporting democracies worldwide to ensure opportunity and dignity for all.
The continuous efforts of the United States demonstrate a commitment to strengthening democracy globally and ensuring that democracy can deliver positive outcomes for all citizens.
