House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) criticized Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) ahead of the vice presidential debate on Sunday. Emmer, who stood in for Walz during debate preparation for Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), described Walz as a “complete disaster” in Minnesota, comparing him to Gavin Newsom in a flannel shirt.
Emmer, familiar with Walz’s mannerisms and policies, believes Vance has the upper hand in the debate and will hold Walz accountable. The debate is set for Tuesday at 9 p.m. in New York City, hosted by CBS News. More insights from The Washington Examiner.
According to RealClearPolitics, Vance’s favorability ratings may require some work as he currently holds a 35.8% favorable to 45.8% unfavorable rating. On the other hand, Walz has a more balanced rating with 40.3% favorable to 39.1% unfavorable. It will be interesting to see how Vance presents himself to voters during the debate.
