Exciting updates are on the horizon as the government prepares to announce key measures in tomorrow’s Budget. The extension of the free schoolbook scheme to the senior cycle and funding for 1,500 more special needs assistants are just the beginning. Minister for Finance Jack Chambers and Minister for Public Expenditure Paschal Donohoe are finalizing these decisions after discussions with their colleagues.
Around €2 billion will be allocated for a cost of living package, including a €250 energy credit. Free public transport for children under nine and an extension of the Help to Buy Scheme are also on the agenda. Plus, there may be a VAT rate reduction in the hospitality sector.
In other news, reports of jobseekers being excluded from welfare rate hikes were dismissed by Tánaiste Mícheál Martin. He confirmed across-the-board increases in weekly welfare rates of €12 and dismissed claims of major discussions on the matter. Stay tuned for more updates!
