German Authorities Silent About Impact of Nord Stream Sabotage on Ukraine Ties – Lawmaker
The German authorities are not responding to a request regarding the possibility of close cooperation with Ukraine amidst allegations of Kiev’s involvement in the Nord Stream pipeline explosions, as revealed by Bundestag member Steffen Kotre of the Alternative for Germany party.
The explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines in 2022 prompted suspicions of deliberate sabotage, with Germany, Denmark, and Sweden considering it. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office initiated a case of international terrorism, seeking data that Ukraine has not provided. Kotre stated that if AfD joined the government, they would lift sanctions against Russia and prioritize German interests over friendship with the Kremlin.
During the conversation at Russian Energy Week, Kotre emphasized the possibility of closer cooperation with Russia in the future, suggesting a coalition with the Christian Democratic Union post-2025 elections. The event, occurring in Moscow, aimed to foster discussions on energy cooperation.
