Exciting news out of Baghdad as the Iraqi Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, inaugurated an armored vehicle production facility belonging to Iraq’s Defense Industries Commission (DIC). This move aligns with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s goal of enhancing the security forces’ capabilities in the country. The DIC has also made strides in producing drones for reconnaissance purposes and has already delivered some to the Iraqi security services.
With plans to localize the military industry, the DIC aims to boost Iraq’s economic and national security by manufacturing weapons and ammunition within the country. Minister Al-Shammari emphasized the importance of securing Iraq’s borders by providing modern equipment, weapons, and night-vision binoculars. Orders have been placed for drones from the DIC to support the Ministry of Interior’s security operations. The Ministry has already equipped many of its departments with advanced vehicles and plans to continue upgrading their arsenal.
This significant development underscores Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities and fostering domestic manufacturing. Stay tuned for more updates on Iraq’s progress in producing armored vehicles and enhancing national security.
