Remote Village Mothers Losing Babies Due to Drug Shortage
Mothers in the remote villages of Domuloto Payam are facing tragic consequences during delivery due to a lack of essential drugs and the recent closure of the Nukta Manga Primary Healthcare Center (PHCC) in Wulu County, Lakes State. Deputy Paramount Chief Moses Bilal Kulang expressed concern over the increasing number of deaths related to childbirth, emphasizing the critical need for medical supplies.
The Nukta Manga PHCC, which operated effectively until recently, served as a vital healthcare facility for pregnant women in the area. However, its closure has forced expectant mothers to travel long distances to access alternative health facilities, putting their lives and the lives of their babies at risk.
Patient Julian Mangia shared her struggles of seeking medical assistance without finding essential medications at the Nukta Manga PHCC. Clinical officer James Kalah highlighted the shortage of drugs for common illnesses like malaria and antibiotics, urging the government and health partners to prioritize the supply of medicines to the remote healthcare center.
