In a show of solidarity and support, the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration and Displacement welcomed 144 Lebanese refugees who had been affected by recent Israeli bombardments in Lebanon. These refugees, including injured individuals, arrived at the Al-Qaim border crossing on the Iraq-Syria border seeking safety.
The escalating tensions between Hezbollah in Lebanon and Israel have led to a large number of Lebanese families seeking refuge in neighboring countries like Syria and Iraq. The Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has been providing much-needed assistance to these families as they arrive at the border crossing.
Additionally, the IRCS sent a shipment of humanitarian and medical aid to Lebanon, while the Iraqi Ministry of Health dispatched medical teams and aid to support Lebanese hospitals. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani also ordered the dispatch of Iraqi medical teams to Lebanon to help civilians injured in the recent cyberattack by Israel.
This gesture of support and aid showcases the strong bond between Iraq and Lebanon during times of crisis. The Iraqi government’s swift response and assistance highlight their commitment to providing relief to those in need, regardless of nationality.
