In a devastating and tragic turn of events, at least 21 Palestinians lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes targeting homes and shelters in the Gaza Strip overnight. The Palestinian Civil Defense reported recovery of seven bodies from a school sheltering displaced civilians in Shejaiya, Gaza City, while 13 others were killed in airstrikes hitting homes in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Additionally, one Palestinian was killed by a drone strike on a tent for displaced people in Rafah city.
Amidst the airstrikes, Israeli artillery shelling was also reported in various areas, resulting in the destruction of several buildings. Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued its brutal offensive on Gaza, resulting in a devastating toll on the civilian population.
Estimates indicate that nearly 41,600 people have been killed in Gaza, with a majority being women and children, and over 96,200 others injured. The ongoing siege has also led to severe shortages of essentials like food, clean water, and medicine, displacing almost the entire population of the territory.
