The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas celebrated his birthday and Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary by donating medical services and food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Kabusa village. The event was attended by members of the National Assembly and the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
During the event, Abbas emphasized the importance of addressing poverty in the country and pledged to collaborate with agencies to include the needs of IDPs in the 2025 budget. Alhaji Tijani Ahmed of the NCFRMI announced plans to provide training for IDPs in skills for sustainable solutions.
Dr. Fatimah Abdullahi highlighted the importance of the medical outreach, noting the lack of access to healthcare for IDPs. She also emphasized the need for skilled birth attendants in IDP camps. The commission assured continued support for displaced persons.
