Brazil to evacuate nationals from Lebanon amidst Israeli invasion
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has instructed the Brazilian Air Force to airlift nationals from Lebanon as Israeli forces launch a land invasion. The operation, organized by the Foreign and Defense Ministries, will determine the date based on safety conditions for the flight. Israeli airstrikes have targeted civilian areas in Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Beqaa Valley.
The Brazilian Embassy in Lebanon is working to ensure the safe evacuation of Brazilian citizens. Last week, Israeli bombings in Lebanon led to the death of two Brazilian teenagers. In Argentina, four individuals were arrested for allegedly financing Hezbollah with cryptocurrencies, following a joint operation by the Federal Police (PFA).
Hezbollah has appointed Hashem Safi al-Din as the successor to slain leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by Israel. Safi al-Din, like Nasrallah, has been designated as a terrorist by the US. The situation in the Middle East remains tense as Brazil and other countries take measures to protect their citizens.
