The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez, met with the head of the European Union Delegation and EU’s special representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Luigi Soreca in Sarajevo. He congratulated the new head of the EU Delegation and emphasized cooperation with the European Union and the EU integration process.
Ambassador Soreca reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration. Minister Helez praised efforts to maintain the multi-ethnic composition of the Armed Forces and protect the state’s integrity. He highlighted Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in peace missions, underscoring their positive international impact.
Helez discussed security challenges in Europe, including migration issues, emphasizing the need for cooperation with international organizations. Despite current challenges, he remains committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s strategic goals of NATO and EU membership.
Helez also highlighted the importance of missions like Althea and EUFOR in maintaining stability. He expressed gratitude for EU support in capacity-building efforts and stressed the need for institutional strengthening and rule of law improvement to retain young talent in the country.
