The Irish Government is making significant investments in the justice sector, with plans to recruit up to 350 more prison staff and an additional 1,000 gardaí. Minister for Public Expenditure Paschal Donohoe also announced a substantial expansion in the international protection processing system, with the recruitment of 400 extra staff. Furthermore, organisations supporting victims of domestic and gender-based violence will receive an additional €7m in funding.
In addition to these initiatives, the Defence Forces will receive a €1.35bn funding allocation for major upgrades to equipment and infrastructure, including a revamped uniform. An investment in recruitment advertising aims to bring in 400 new Defence Forces members next year.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement and military capabilities, as well as providing support for vulnerable populations. Stay updated with the latest developments in Budget 2025 and other news stories on our website.
