BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rahman Hummatov, highlighted the significant increase in the import of hybrid and electric vehicles due to tax exemptions during panel discussions at the international conference as part of Climate Action Week in Baku. The country is also focusing on electrifying public transport with the introduction of 160 new electric buses, signaling a shift towards greener transportation.
Azerbaijan is committed to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development in its transport sector. Initiatives include the expansion of the aviation fleet, modernizing metro infrastructure, electrifying railway networks, and promoting greener transport options.
Climate Action Week in Baku, running from September 30 to October 4, 2024, is a platform for discussions on climate solutions, bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors. The event will set the tone for the climate agenda ahead of WCOOP 29 in Baku in November.
