Recent data from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) shows a significant increase in tax compliance among taxpayers and businesses. Thanks to tools like the appodixi app, which allows users to search for fake receipts, cases of tax evasion and smuggling have been uncovered.
Over 255,000 taxpayers have downloaded the appodixi app, with tens of thousands of complaints already submitted through the platform. This proactive approach has led to the detection of over 28,000 cases of tax evasion, resulting in higher public revenues and a reduced VAT gap.
The positive impact of these measures is evident in the January-July data, showing that eight out of 10 euros owed are paid on time. With the introduction of incentives for detecting tax evasion, such as a bonus of €100 to €3,000, the fight against fraud is gaining momentum.
